Hi Everyone
When I had My 1st meeting with N/S in Dec 2009,he told me waiting list for surgery was 7-10 months.
Imagine my surprise to get a call for Op,to go in Tues 23rd Feb & Op the next day.
It was an early start as hospital is in Belfast,about 1 & half hrs drive from home,we had to be there for 9am.They were doing my pre op assessment that day,I had everything packed excluding the kitchen sink.(I took note of everyones tips on site),and mentally prepared;well as much as you can be.To cut long story short, while going through list of meds I take,the look of horror on the nurses face;said it all.I was still taking my HRT,and should not have taken it 4-6 weeks prior to surgery;as it causes clotting.Op was cancelled,I was upset.Nurse was very apologetic,assured me it was an over sight & they'd readdress the problem.So I'm still waiting to join the Zipperhead Club,keep your fingers crossed for me ;that I get a new date for Op A.S.A.P.Hope you all have more good days than bad. 10/12/09-First appointment to see Neurosurgeon,hopefully he will be able to answer all my many questions & fears

Hi Joy

What a disappointment and what a trauma that they have put you through unnecessarily! At least it was in your best interests though?
I hope that you can wait a few more weeks to get the treatment that you need?
Please keep us informed of your progress ;)

Oh Joy what a huge let down! :(

But hopefully now that you have been there as such they can get you in asap..?

I hope you get your op in 4 wks so let us know when you find out! :)

Hi Joy, welcome to the forum.  I feel so sorry for you, what a nightmare.

Glad that you have joined us though.  I have been to ireland three times and last year was in Northern Ireland where there are Giant stones coming out of the sea, cant remember what it is called.  Beautiful place though.

Hello Joy welcome to the forum.
I know what you are going through, I've been refused surgery by my N/S he thinks I'm not suitable for the op.
Needles to say I'm now seeking a second opinion!!
Good luck with your op I hope your appointment comes through soon

Sarah, it's called the Giants Causeway, we've been there a few times it's wonderful, did you get a chance to visit the cliffs of Moa (can't remember if that's the right spelling)
We love Ireland, North and South, we've been going for years.

Thanks to all of you for your concern,I shall make more of an effort to come on the website.
I did get a 2nd date 5 weeks later,but was cancelled due to an emergency; & i'm only classed as Elective Surgery.
If any of you come to N.Ireland in the future,don't forget to let me know;my door is always open to a fellow ACM sufferer.

Im really sorry to hear about that! My surgery is scheduled in the next four to five months and i thought that was a long time!

I now have a 3rd date for my Op,go into hospital on 1st June & Op the next day;I'm just hoping that it's 3rd x lucky
